HOW IT STARTED
Level was created while running a trades business and training for endurance sport. Long days, early starts and physical load made one thing clear: staying consistent with nutrition mattered more than chasing quick fixes.
Before Level I was taking one of the big-name brands, and putting a fair amount into it every month. I did not mind paying, it was money going towards getting better at something. But through winter the day started in the dark and finished in the dark, up early to train or straight out to site, and what I was taking had not been put together for a day that looked like that.
I also could not have told you what was actually in it, or how much of anything. The label said “blend” and left it there. What I wanted was one thing, with the lot in it, at amounts written down in full, at a price I could keep paying every month without thinking about it.
Add trying to get better at running, cycling and lifting on top of a full working week, and it was obvious nothing on the shelf had been built for both halves of it. Everything is either for the gym or for the office. Nothing was for people doing both, all week, in the dark.
So we made it ourselves. Foundation+ is the thing I was looking for and could not find.
I’m Max. Level started with an idea whilst laying on the sofa, and my business partner from our joinery company came along for the ride, Cameron. We have spent years working together on the tools, so when I described the problem it did not need explaining.
HOW WE DO IT
EVERYTHING ON THE LABEL
Every nutrient and every amount is listed in full on the site, not hidden behind a proprietary blend. If we are not proud of a number, we change the formula rather than the wording.
NO FILLERS, NO PADDING
Two capsules only hold so much. Every milligram given to a bulking agent is a milligram not doing anything, so we use the space for actives and keep the count honest.
NOTHING WE CANNOT STAND BEHIND
We built the formula on published nutrient research, and every batch is tested at our manufacturer against the specification before it leaves the facility. We would rather say less than overpromise.
PRICED TO BE TAKEN DAILY
A supplement you stop buying is no use to anyone. The subscription is cheaper than the one-off on purpose, and you can skip or cancel it whenever you like.
I wanted something I’d still be taking in a year, not something I’d give up on in a fortnight.

THE OTHER HALF OF THE DAY
We got put in the trades box early on and I understand why. It is where we started. But the problem Foundation+ was built around was never really about being on the tools. It is about a day that asks a lot of you twice over: the work, and then whatever you are trying to get better at on top of it.
Early starts. Long shifts. Training before work or after it, dark at both ends for half the year. That is a nurse coming off nights. A driver. A teacher. Someone marathon training around a full working week, or getting to the gym five times because they said they would. Different jobs, same day.
So it was never put together for one trade. It was put together for that kind of day. Twenty nutrients, at amounts we are happy to print in full, in two capsules you take once in the morning and then forget about.
It is made in the UK. We met a handful of manufacturers before we found the right one. Most could have made it cheaper by dropping the amounts or padding the capsules out. These were the ones willing to build it the way we asked, and every batch is tested at our manufacturer against the specification before it leaves the facility.
